Friends!
Blunt, pipe, piece, pen, bong or bubbler,
Whatever vessel you are, I pray that you burn
And share together, to combust joint in turn
I pray that the lights are just right, and that we light each other,
That the night brings out the brightness in the eyes of sisters and brothers,
That we see sight behind black pupils in which we are other,
That insight sparks understanding that we are one another,
And that we believe there is truth in delight to discover
I pray that we talk and I pray that we listen,
And that the clock is forgotten, to know time is our mission,
For there is lots more in some minutes of living incision
Than many hours hollowed by bores of precision,
I pray that you display the piece I am missin, and if I have yours,
Why, of course, take my vision
I pray that we know we are on each others’ team,
That we unfold every conflict at the seam, and realize there is no true
Disconnect, only mistakes and how things seem,
I pray for benefit of the doubt, good faith to feel what you mean,
Trusting none of it mean, trusting the good in you as I trust the good in me,
So our minds may meet in mutual respect
I pray for good music, I pray for good silence,
I pray our environment is owned by all votes,
I pray for peace, and the death of all violence,
I pray for warmth, and the removal of coats
I pray for old memories and I pray we make new,
I pray for good food, I pray for grateful tongues,
And as we smoke and sing our songs, me and you,
I pray for the capacity of dependable lungs
I pray for sharp minds, that we may be discerning,
And that when we fail, it’s okay, we’re all learning,
I pray for healthy bodies, and the easing of pain,
I pray we can giggle and dance in the rain,
I pray that we all remember to drink water,
And that someone catches me if I start to totter
I pray that we see everything unseen as true,
And see every object as revealed by God anew,
I pray that we question everything known as unknown,
And that you take that feeling wherever you go,
I pray that we remember that we are still children,
And play without pretense or power, and pretend,
I pray for novelty, I pray for familiarity,
But most of all, friends, I pray for hilarity!
I pray for laughter! I pray for merriment!
I pray for joy, for lively experiment!
I pray we explore in mutual accord,
And that no one ever feels left out or bored,
And that we can even laugh at anything awkward,
I pray I fall out of my chair laughing uncontrollably,
I pray I cry, roll on the floor, and that you roll with me,
For that’s it, what it’s all for! Life is absurd, and as for me, I want more!
We live between breath, relieve in laughter, sex, and death,
And only by releasing life do we build up our store.
I pray for more breaths, so you can take them away!
I pray that I forget what I was gonna say,
So we can laugh about it all again another day.
I pray that tomorrow we wake up, and, no matter the weather,
Forgetting the details, forgetting the procession,
We remember with a smile the simple impression,
The feeling, that holy feeling, of our joy being together.
