(May 2022. I flew home from CA to MA for Harvard’s belated Covid graduations for the classes of 2020 and 2021, most of my former classmates. I stayed with my old roommate Alex in Cambridge, and he wrote this short poem in my brown notebook. Like the John Belitsky poem I believe this belongs on the website even though I did not write it. He wrote it in all caps so I will maintain that.)
INTERTIDAL
WHAT USE TO WONDER
PEAK OR PRECIPICE
THE WORLD SITS ATOP THE CRAG.
CARRION WASH ASHORE BELOW.
TWO BOYS SHARE A BUCKET
COMBING THROUGH SHARDS OF ROCK
IN PURSUIT OF GLASS.
