cassiopoesis

(August 2022. Written spontaneously in a few minutes while looking at the stars from the roof of my bus parked in Pando, the giant aspen clone in Fishlake National Forest in Utah on my way to Burning Man. I rarely rhyme, but this one just came out of nowhere. Dedicated to my favorite constellation, Cassiopeia.)

cassiopoesis

i wonder while i wander
with whispers in the sky
i wander as i wonder
and wonder why is why

i wish to grip the double u
rising oh so high
to wield the waving milky way
the hand of god in mine

i want to want the wanting
to choose to be alive
i’ll relish and relinquish
what i lose when i arrive

i witness the stars watching
wows gleam in my eye
how wonderful our witnessing
what it means to be an i!
