(February 2023. In San Francisco. Quintin took me up to the WeWork in SalesForce Tower. Very fun “hitchhiker in business world” moment. Mediocre daopoem, first half me, I believe second stanza is Billy, but I include it here despite its mediocrity because of the Vibe, and the comment on the Protestant Work Ethic.)

it’s a gray rainy day in the bay
from the top of salesforce tower i see
the city and the water the same color
the protestant work ethic worked westward
to reach its final shores unrecognizable to itself

from the stinking water rises the aroma of
regret and fish but I laugh despite it all
there’s humor to be found in even the most
foul smells and sordid feeling
