Lockhart

(May 2023. During my red bus job adventures, Alice the red bus would typically stay in Lockhart, Texas whenever we were in the area, and for general storage when not in use. We had a lot of meetings for the company in Texas so it would end up here quite often. Josh would often fly away to go to meetings and stuff, and I’d stay behind in Lockhart and take care of the bus. All in all, I probably spent two total months in Lockhart in 2023, more time there than anywhere else; it became one of my homiest homes.)

Lockhart

The hereness of the crickets cricketing rubs
a green carving in this hippocampus—
a home, a map I’ve walked well.

I underline my neural circuitry with nicotine,
addicted to this path home.
A muscley fiber, a heartstring stretched here
in the fabric of what I feel, my world
I will have felt, for my ever.

The night air is warm.

I can place my burning in an ashtray lightly,
later to relight.

I will create, and sleep—
there is nothing I must do now.
