(June 2023. Met Emma at Vibecamp. She is an excellent daopoetry partner. Second and final stanzas are hers.)
dewey grassblades bare toes twirling
throes of buoyancy fall never all the way
dancing with the night wind careless
of gravity, bouncing mirth between us
like a cheeky bump
we say, words (al)chemical heavy—
darkness reveals the truth of things unseen
before, now that the veil is lifted between us
and the stars— one step before a shadow—
shrouded rock disproves our follies
vestigial drips from tall things past rainfall—
living things moist, the opposite of safe,
risking death in love & love in death once
more, this time, this time, only ever this time
we rest suspended in a second, blind
witness bearing, of shoots birthing and cells
disintegrating. matter recomposes itself
ceaselessly, dying into its own becoming—
as life into line and I into We
