skirting the sierras with a vision like wildfire

(August 2023. Collaborative poem in the daopoetry app with Emma, while she was hiking in the Sierras and reading Whitman :). Very Aidan-core. I was driving I-80 cross country with Asher at the time; we ended up scoping Emma in Truckee a few days later.)

skirting the sierras with a vision like wildfire
i burn through brush through dust through
past the ash illuminates inverse futures
sanctifies the sky with smokehaze sin

sequoia seeds sear open uncertainty
scintillating sprouts dare fill bared space

growth is patterned in the rhythm of death
— life’s only and eternal lover

nascence shuddering with distant touch
the weight of light overjoyed to be carried
