(August 2023. Daopoetry app collaborative poem. I wrote the prompt line, then Billy did the rest of the first half, I’m the second half— see if you can figure out where the voice switch occurs. I was in the middle of a cross country I-80 drive with Asher, around Iowa 80 truck stop, while Billy was probably in LA.)
i am composed of tiny internal mirrors
serial tubular hallways lined w/ treated hide
formed in a filing cabinet converted oven
with the express purpose of defense and
producing echolocative soul beams
clinging to the hard truths gunking me up
holding on to who i think they think i am
for dear life and the fear of changing light
crooked aluminum dented like a lazy eye
and i am all the more godly for being bent
this new angle erupts into reality divergent
diversity the world warps wider within
a rainbow released from the heart of a prism
